Welcome to Beth Ephraim-Maplewood Jewish Center

Since 1961, Maplewood Jewish Center has been privileged to serve the Maplewood and South Orange communities. Since opening our doors to our congregation over 61 years ago, the surrounding Jewish community has continued to flourish and thrive. We are honored to have been a part of this community’s growth, and the lives of the families and individuals who live here.

Welcoming and Warm

In keeping with the Chabad approach, Maplewood Jewish Center welcomes Jews of all backgrounds and levels of observance. We strive to create a warm and friendly environment that invites all to enjoy our Center’s many services and resources, experience the beauty of our traditions, and observe mitzvot.

Meet Rabbi Sholom Bogomilsky

Born and raised just two blocks from Maplewood Jewish Center, Rabbi Sholom Bogomilsky always knew he wanted to help strengthen the Jewish experience in the community he loves. In 1995, he and his wife Frumie commuted from their home in Brooklyn to be part of the Center’s leadership. This commute became much shorter when the Bogomilsky’s purchased a home right across the street.

Over the decades, Rabbi and Mrs. Bogomilsky have enjoyed seeing the Maplewood Jewish Center and the surrounding Jewish community continue to flourish. They are honored to be a part of this growth, and have poured their hearts into creating an inviting and beautiful environment for families, friends and neighbors.
While most know him as a thoughtful and dedicated spiritual leader, Rabbi Bogomilsky has many interests, a curiosity about the world, and a lively sense of humor. Before receiving his Rabbinical Ordination from the Central Lubavitch Yeshiva in Brooklyn, Rabbi Bogomilsky traveled around South America. Fluent in Spanish, Hebrew and Yiddish, he has also been practicing as a Certified Public Accountant for over 25 years.

When he’s not greeting neighbors with a joke at the Center, crunching numbers or studying the Torah, you can sometimes find Rabbi Bogomilsky deep-sea fishing for that record-breaking tuna with friends. Stop by the Center anytime to trade big-fish stories with him.

Growing with Our Community

To better meet the needs of our growing community, in 2015 we won our variance and in 2017 we broke ground on an expanded Maplewood Jewish Center. After five years of dedication, vision and resilience, we are thrilled to welcome the community to the our beautiful new Center, featuring over 17,000 square feet of beautiful spaces and amenities, including:

•    Added early childhood education classrooms
•    A comfortable and serene kosher mikvah — our community’s first
•    An expansive new sanctuary and formal social hall
•    State-of-the-art, fully equipped kosher kitchen
•    ADA-compliant features including a Shabbat elevator
•    Landscaped gardens, seating area and sukkah pad

This is your Center — for celebration, learning, community, prayer, and life.

We look forward to welcoming and growing with you.
